Introduction

NPCC is organising a three-day attachment for Secondary Two and Three cadets to the Police K-9 Unit. Police K-9, one of the four units under the Special Operations Command (SOC), is a professional unit that complements police and other agencies like the Prison Department, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and other Home Team Agencies in public order and security management, as well as maintenance of law and order.

This attachment programme is aimed at cultivating in our cadets, a love for animals, passion to serve the community and awareness of the Singapore Police Force in maintaining law and order.

Cadets will be given hands-on experience on the different aspect of police life at K-9 unit. They will have the opportunity to experience the partnership between dog-handlers and the working dogs in accomplishing their duties.

Criteria

The cadets must NOT be sensitive to dog fur. They must possess the right attitude and ready to involve themselves in “dirty jobs” like clearing dog faeces and cleaning kennels. All cadets must obtain parental consent before applying for the attachment. NPCC will conduct interview of cadets to assess their suitability to participate in this programme.

Application

To apply for the attachment, cadets have to submit the parental consent form which will be placed In Ms Yip's pigeon hole.

The application closes on 23 November 2007, Friday at 5 pm. Thus, please return the consent form to Ms Yip by 12 noon in school. Please indicate the date you are interested.

For those with printers and fax machines, you can submit the application on your own. Drop me a email and I will forward you the application documents.

There will be a selection cum briefing session on 26 November 2007, Monday at 10.00 am at Kilimanjaro Room, Home Team Academy. Cadets keen to attend the programme are to attend the selection cum briefing session in full uniform with a original copy of the signed parent consent form. Adventure Training Badge

ATTN: ALL SEC 2 and 3 Cadets,

In order to achieve the ATC Badge, you will be required to attend BOTH Sec 2 and Sec 3 Adventure Training Camp.

This upcoming camp is COMPULSORY for all Sec 2 and Sec 3 as it will be a great learning experience for you in NPCC. Your CIs will be going through the camp with you, therefore, there isn't any reasons why you should be worried about the camp as they will be looking over you throughout the 3 days.
