Thank you to my CIs and Sec 3 NCOs who put in much effort to ensure that the whole event ran smoothly. I must also thank the Sec 1s and 2s for their hard work in rehearsing and the excellent performance on the actual day to make sure the Sec 4s have a grand send off. =) Thank you so much!
I must also thank our guests - Area 4 CIs and HOs who took time off to join us in our tribute to the Sec 4s. =) Photos taken by my camera has been uploaded so please check it out on our photo site.
Here is my speech for the Passing Out Parade for those of you who were not listening to me that day:
A very good morning, to our Guest of honour Mr Low, colleagues, Area 4 CIs and HOs, fellow unit officers, ex students and cadets. Welcome to Kuo Chuan Presbyterian’s NPCC passing out parade 2007.
This is a very special day, for the Sec 4s who are officially stepping down from their role as NCOs.
My dear Sec 4s, I am sure all of you still remember the days when you first joined the unit as a cadet, learning how to fall in as a squad. The first time doing drills and campcraft, the first time setting up a tent, the first time doing outdoor cooking and the list of the many first times you have experienced in NPCC can go on and on.
These are all precious memories that will be with you, many years down the road.
It is immensely rewarding for me, to see how you’ve changed and developed from shy recruits into leaders with the confidence and ability to lead the unit, through your commitment and enthusiasm in NPCC.
Do remember that besides the hard skills you have gained, you have also been equipped with valuable soft skills such as event planning, time management, discipline and leadership. These are skills that cannot be learnt through mere memorizing of cadet manuals and they are essential skills which will aid you in almost every aspect of your life. Put these skills to good use to make the most of yourself.
To all the Sec 1 - 3 cadets, the Sec 4s have been your role models for the past one year. Hopefully, they will continue to inspire you in excelling in all that you do. I hope that the upcoming batch of Sec 3s will continue to keep up the effort put in by the Sec 4s to lead the unit with passion and serve the school with pride.
To the Sec 4s, on behalf of everyone in the unit, we thank you for your dedication and contributions. All the best for your studies and we are definitely proud to have you as part of our KCP NPCC family.
I wish you all the best.
