Unit Camp Photos
I hope that all of you are ready to embark on the new Term. More school work coming as Common Test 1 is round the corner! Beside doing well for CCA, you must also excel in your studies!
Due to the huge size of the photos, we are taking some time to compile them. Once they are ready, you may order and purchase the dvd (total photo size ard 2gb!). Each dvd will cost $1. The amount is to cover the cost of the dvd itself and any extra will go to our NPCC unit fund.
=)

Sec 2 Community Safety and Security Proficency (CSSP) Badge project
Dear Sec 2s,
As mentioned previously, you will have to complete a CSSP project in order to get your CSSP badge.
In groups of 4, you must submit a proposl that will help to solve school safety or security issues. For example, discuss a way to cut down loss of handphones / bags in the school, how to prevent outsiders from entering the school, how to reduce vandalism etc.
It's up to you to decide what are the areas of concern for the school.
There is a standard proposal and report that you have to complete. I have printed ten copies of the document and placed it in my pigeon hole. If you need a soft copy, please get your group later to drop a email to me at yip_siew_min@kcpss.moe.edu.sg so that I can send you a soft copy. But please note that I will be away overseas from 7th Dec onwards, so email me before that. Thanks.
Please submit the soft or hard copies to me by 21st December so that I have time to grade it and submit to HQ to get your badges.
Thank you.
Regards,
Ms Yip

CIP and RI Inter Unit Carom Competition
Dear all,
Thank you to all who participatd in our unit CIP event on Tuesday and today. I am sure many of you now realise there are many Bishan residents who are willing to work with us to help others. I hope you have benefitted from today's CIP activity where these collections will go on to benefit needy families in Singapore. Well done to all of you! Photos will be uploaded soon.
Today we also sent 4 sec ones to particpate in RI's Inter Unit Carom Competition and we are happy to share with you that one of our teams - Kishen and Praveen came in Second! Congraluations! Cantona and Ernest also did very well. We will present the prizes to the 4 of them when school reopens.
In addition, the Kunming Trip team will be leaving to do community work in Kunming, China on Monday. 10 of our cadets are going and please keep us in your prayers!
Looking forward to hearing success stories from the upcoming Area Games Day at Guangyang Secondary School on 1st November (Sat) although I will not be around. Mr Lee will be rooting for all of you on my behalf!
Last year we won prizes in Soccer, Floorball, Badminton and Air Rifle.
This year, I hope that more prizes can be won! We have 7 openings for Frisbee (new this year), 7 openings for Floorball, 2 openings for Carom, 4 openings for Air Rifle, 7 openings for Netball, 3 openings for Basketball and 7 openings for Volleyball.
If you are interested to be part of the team, please contact your NCOs or your CIs as soon as possible as we need to register the teams. If you do not have their contact numbers, you can email CI Raymond at ray07foo931@hotmail.com for more information or to register.
We will need everyone's support on that day! Remember that representing the school for this annual event will help you clock CCA points too. And if you win, you will clock points under acheivements category.
Thank you.
Regards,
Ms Yip

National Day Celebrations CIP
Those of you down for CIP, please listen out for announcements in the morning.
All cadets are to report in Unit Tee and shorts or school pants/skirt. Mr Chan had wanted you all to wear full uniform or half uniform but I think that in case if it is a hot day, it's better for you all to wear shorts.
Some of you who will like to wear red and white in the morning to school. That is fine, but you must get changed into unit tee to report for duty for easy identification.
Thanks.

2. Kunming Trip
All cadets who are interested in the Kunming trip, please sign up for an interview slot on our notice board! As I have mentioned many times, $ shouldn't stop you from going. As long as you are keen, we can help to solve any financial issues you have. Out of the 18 slots left, 10 has been reserved for NPCC cadets only.

Cheers to ATC participants!
To all cadets who participated in the ATC,
I hope that it was an enriching experience for all of you and that you have made new friends and grown closer to your own squad mates. Despite the "downs" during the camps, I hope that you will learn from mistakes made and bask in the glow of the "ups" you have experienced during the camp. You have gone through a camp which can only be experienced by an npcc cadet in area 4 and I hope that you will treasure the experience. It is not often you have the chance to be at this campsite which was built specially for cadets of npcc only.
By going through all the activities (with so few of you in the medic room), we are proud of you. Keep up the spirit and continue to do our unit proud. All of you deserve your ATC/Survival badges.
Cheers,
Ms Yip

Attendence for NPCC Courses
Attn: All cadets
As mentioned before school closed and also in the letters that were issued to all of you, if you are unable to attend any of the NPCC HQ courses during the June holidays, you have to inform the Teacher Officers BEFORE the course.
This should also be the case for any courses during the school term.
The reasons for this arrangement is because:
1. NPCC HQ provides lunch for full day courses and a namelist is submitted to HQ 2 weeks before the course starts. If you did not inform any of the Teacher Officers, you are assumed to be able to attend and your name is included in the name list and lunch is booked for you. When you do not attend, these lunch boxes are really, a waste of food and NPCC HQ's money.
2. In addition, our unit get penalised in the UOPA (the assessment that is done to determine if a unit is Bronze, Silver or Gold) for attendence less than 80% stated in the submitted namelist.
3. Booking of different sizes of buses to the course venues depends on the number of participants and the money is paid from the unit fund. When a big bus meant for 30 ppl is booked and only 10 ppl turns up, we are wasting our own unit fund which could have been used for organising enrichment activities for all of you.
4. Some of the courses are only organised once a year. Once you missed it, you can only take it one year later.
5. Some of the courses get you the Proficency Badges that are pre-requsities for certain ranks. Eg. Road Safety Badge is compulsory for a cadet to be promoted to a LCP. Without this badge, even if you pass your drill promotion test, you will be a probationary LCP as you have not fulfilled the NPCC HQ's promotion criteria.
In summary, it is peferctly understandable if you are sick or have other valid reasons that you cannot attend the course. However, we will really appreciate if you inform the Teacher Officers personally before a course commences if you are unable to attend.
The following cadets were absent from the June courses without any valid reasons. Please see me personally to explain why you did not turn up for the courses by next Tuesday (24/6/08). For Road Safety course, you can only take it next year. For SANA course, there are courses in Sept and Dec. However, I will only make arrangements for you to attend the courses if your reasons for absence is valid.

The Everland drama production also went well in Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel last night and our cadets acting as toy soldiers grabbed the limelight when they appeared! Here are some photos:

Thank you everyone for rising to the occasion in all that you do to bring up the unit.
Cheers,
Ms Yip

Urgent Annoucements
1. Catholic High Inter-Unit City Venture 2008
The Catholic High School organizes the City Venture competition annually. This year, it will be held on this coming Sat, from 9am to 5pm.
Our school has been taking part every year and for the past 2 years, we've been in the Top 5 postitions. Usually, we send in senior cadets or NCOs for this competition. However, this year, many of them are involved in either Annual Parade, Campcraft Competition Finals or Everland Production.
Thus, I am appealing for any group of five Sec 1 and above cadets to sign up for this competition to represent our school.
This exciting competition requires participants to plan and to travel to checkpoints spread all over the island by means of public transport. If you are keen to get CCA points for participation in a competition and get the chance to travel around Singapore with your friends, sign up for it by tommorrow! The form will be pasted on the NPCC notice board or see me personally to sign up.
2. National Campcraft Competition Finals
The finals will be carried out this sat, from 8am to 11am in Home Team Academy in Old Choa Chu Kang road. The entire unit is encouraged to go down to support our campcraft team if you are free this sat. A form will be put up for you to sign up if you are keen to go as we have vaccancies on the bus for 25 supporters.
Thank you,
Ms Yip
